Just wanted to penn down todays incidence wherein I just narrowly escaped accident twice within a span of an hour.
I was returning from Navi Mumbai in Uber in heavy rains today afternoon. It was a moving traffic on highway. At Nerul on highway in my lane one small three wheeler tempo was ahead of our car and big lorry behind . The lorry driver wanted to go ahead so was honking continuously which was very irritating. Two things happened in same time. First Lorry behind me got some space to overtake me from left side so he came ahead and just overtook my car. The tempo which was just ahead of my car suddenly slipped and overturned on busy running highway admist heavy rains. Fortunately the car behind me was at distance may be due to empty space of lorry which went ahead in full speed. Our driver applied brakes so hard making so much noise and we just managed to stop may be one or two inches from the overturned tempo. Luck was on our side , had the lorry been behind us, it would have been bad... after few seconds we both , driver and me got into senses and got out of car and helped the tempo driver and cleaner get out of their vehicle. Somehow traffic police on bike was few meters away and they also helped. Tempo driver or cleaner were not bleeding or visibly injured. I was totally shocked and as it was raining and lot many came for help, we left the scene and proceeded to home.
I was about to reach home. And actually in front of my BPM Highschool gate. One big tree branch fell just ahead of bike injuring both the riders. We again made same sound of brakes and managed to stop few inches away from the injured persons. Immediately got out to help. This time many people came and they stopped rickshaw and took the injured to Bandra Bhabha Hospital. The tree branch could have fallen on us or may be something other.....
This time I was literally short of breath and realised that life is too unpredictable. Thanked my Uber driver and reached home.
